The Phantom Rider Trio on K-PEP 256

The Phantom Rider Trio - "I'm Telling Everybody (It's Great to be in Love)"b/w "Peekin' Thru the Window"(K-PEP 256)

The Phantom Rider Trio were a vocal group based in San Angelo, Texas. Bill Moore was the lead vocalist, with KPEP disc jockey Johnny Thurman and Bud Minnick the harmony vocalists. The vocals are fine enough, but listeners today will probably appreciate the musicianship more, supplied by ex-Western Cherokee Jimmy Biggar on steel guitar, plus Bill Madry (lead guitar), Sherman Hamblin (fiddle), Bill Gold (drums), and either Johnny Tollett or Junior Wixom (bass). Billboard gave the disc a lukewarm review in its November 24, 1956, issue.

Thanks to Kevin Coffey.
